Check it out--it is great to play with but sad to look at----
This is really good--but cant wait for the new improved version!!!
Hi Reg,
I had a go at creating a 3D model of the cooling towers in Google Earth.
This only works if you've got Google Earth installed on your PC. Copy the attached file (see below) onto your hard drive somewhere, then double click the file within Windows Explorer.
oldbury_cooling_towers.kml (16KB)
Google Earth fires up and zooms you to Oldbury where I've drawn, in 3D, the proposed 200m cooling towers. If you expand the item (click on the little box with a plus in it) you'll see a list of viewing points I've created, so you can zoom around looking from various places; Grovesend, Severn Bridge, Forest of Dean and the Tyndale Momument.
Have fun!
Cheers, Mike.
PS: I'm working on a better version which will hopefully drape pictures of the power station and towers onto the plain 3D shapes
