Good news!
Dr Rachel Western has prepared and provided The Environment Impact Assessment for both Oldbury and Wylfa to Horizon as the date of the end of the first part of the consultation was the 28th December.
The details below are Dr Westerns background:-
Rachel Western was Nuclear Researcher for Friends of the Earth from 1990 to 2004. The most important project that she worked on during this time was her work as Research Co-ordinator for the 'Nirex' Planning Inquiry. This Inquiry looked at whether 'Nirex' (the Nuclear Waste Management Executive) should be given permission to begin excavation works at their planned nuclear waste facility. The Inquiry concluded that the Nuclear Industry's case was technically inadequate. Rachel has also done a great deal of work on Plutonium and also nuclear reactor safety.
From 2001 to 2006 Rachel worked as a Consultant to Nirex - working on Sustainability and Transparency issues.
Her first degree is in Chemistry and her PhD is on 'Decision Making in Nuclear waste Management'

Hello, I would like to invite dr Rachel western (and indeed, anyone interested in opposing the building of new nuclear power stations) to a camp we are having at Sizewell in Suffolk. Sizewell is earmarked for 2 new reactors, and we have had a camp there one weekend in April for the past 4 years. Rachel attended the camp a couple of years ago and if she is free over the 20th to the 22nd, it would be a pleasure to see her on the beach again. I know it is an odd way to get in touch, but t I don’t have Rachel’s contact details.
