Hitachi- from the country that brought the world Fukushima
We feel very sad for the people of Japan who want to end nuclear energy whilst a potential new government and big business are desperate for it

No Fukushima at Oldbury

No to Fukushima at Shepperdine!

RWE, one of the partners in the Eon led plans for Oldbury say they need tax payers money to build new nuclear

RWE say that unless they get the same sort of subsidies that the new renewable technologies are getting they will not invest in new nuclear! This will be completely against the Coalition Agreement and so it would appear that RWE are seeking to threaten the strength of the Coalition to meet their demands.

Nuclear has been around for decades, it is a mature technology and should be able to stand on its own by now without subsidy, we all know they cant particularly with the hefty costs of waste disposal, decommissioning, not to mention insurances against accidents and terrorism threats. At last someone from the energy sector is being honest about this!

We support the Government's plans to help new clean energy technologies evolve and establish themselves. Renewables such as solar and wind power are new technologies and desperately need this help.

Nuclear on the other hand should not need any subsidy it is a technology that should, after more than half a century of evolution, run under its own steam and not need any more tax payer subsidy, hidden or otherwise!
